At present, there are only two ways organised by the Kenneel Club to show your serra and gain interest in this lovely breed. One is to place your dog on the Agility Register. This is the most significant for the serra as their name as a pedigree dog can be recorded. The other more fun way is to join the Companion Dog Club. The Companion Dog Club is all about people and their dogs. Open to both crossbreed and pedigree dogs alike, it is a great way to become part of the dog community and celebrate a dogs company with others.

With over 6,000 members throughout the UK Companion Dog Club members have proved themselves to be loyal and enthusiastic dog show participants, taking part in Companion Dog Club classes throughout the country. Once a member you can go to any Companion Dogs show and have fun with your serra as Daisy has.

Companion Dog Club Membership Pack:

When you join Companion Dog Club, not only are you becoming a member you will also become part of a group of like-minded people who regularly meet, share news on their dogs and enjoy the excitement of taking part in Companion Dog Shows. Meetings are arranged by individuals at shows or via the online Special Interest Group (SIG) and make being a member more than just a membership pack. Go to for more details. Have fun Laughing

Companion Shows are fun and great training ground for the "BIG SHOWS TO COME" and so much more fun and relaxing. Held for charities they are a must.

The prizes are usually fantastic - Lovely rosettes, trophies and dog goodies! Entry per class around 1 to 1.50 (At UK Championship shows the entry is around 24 and the prizes - a prize card - you only get a rosette if you win Best of Breed).

Do remember though these shows are only usually held through the Spring/Summer so get out there with your Serra's while you can. Advertisements for Companion Shows can be found in "Dog World or Our Dogs" newspapers. Sometimes advertised in local newspapers.

Hopefully the Serra's will be recognized by the Kennel Club in the near future - so we need the practice now. The Import register will be very restrictive and not many local Canine Societies holding shows (Open Shows) will classify Import Register only. Championship Shows have a very small classification for Import Register so Working/Pastoral are shown together.

So it looks as if Companion shows will be on the cards for a very long time. But I must say they are the most enjoyable shows to attend.
