I have a question
Whether and how to prepare the Cao da Serra de Aires to dog shows?
What to look for? |

I am a novice in this subject but I hope members with experience will comment. However, one of the important things must be a well socialised dog. There are some short Youtube clips of serras in the show ring. Have a look |

Initially it is already teaching him to behave, without moving the legs perfectly parallel and move properly on a leash, she has to run the head at your knee without pulling on the leash.
It must also be able to easily touch it without it moving and let it be looking teeth.
Judges are not always easy to approach for dogs, we must accustom the little dog to be touched by different people!
There are also grooming, to go to dog show must be done regularly ... this is not always easy, some dogs do not like being brushed and sometimes there is the undercoat that complicates everything!
Good luck for your first show!
I saw that ACDC and Asta have already been in show, the little ACDC top of its 4 months was 3rd best puppy in Olomouc.........Very very good résult! |

I've really no experience in showing the Serra or seeing them exhibited but last Summer we did show Daisy throughout. Peter has taken over as she is quite difficult to handle. I tried standing her four square (as an Old English Sheepdog). She looked very good this way with head up. Also free standing four square (with some titbits to bait) as per my Samoyeds. I always run my dogs on a loose lead keeping them at my level (not in front or dragged behind) and go at their pace.
Daisy was really okay when a judged went over her. She seemed to prefer males
Grooming when exhibiting - I usually fluff up her front legs and rear hocks. Fluff up head and body. She then gives a good shake and returns to her normal scruffy self Daisy does make up undercoat and it is horrendous to cope with, mainly matting up.
I've exhibited Old English and Samoyeds for 30 years and judge at Championship Show level (Samoyeds) but the Serra really is a CHALLENGE
She did win two Best Puppy awards in show but was shown against other breeds as Serra's are not recognized in the UK. She was always placed.
She really enjoyed the shows and going out in the car. |

Thank you for your advice. We'll see if we can handle;)
Even if it goes wrong, and so does not change anything! Ara is a beloved dog and a wonderful friend.
I changed it not even on the most beautiful dog of the exhibition |

One more question. Or in some special way to cut hair, or shapes dogs for the exhibition? Maybe someone will send instructions or a pattern. Thank you and greet the cold Polish;) |
