Patiently, my dogs let me brush each of them today. It happens once a week. It takes about an hour for each dog overall. This varies with each dog. Finn takes the least time, Nespa takes the most. But I set aside a block of 3 hours for the job. We chat, have cuddles and tussles when there's a difficult knot to remove, ears are checked, paws inspected, nails trimmed, bums cleaned and teeth examined. So today I mused how much time I spent each year and here you have it 6.5 days per year, that's just under 2% of the year. Perhaps not too bad |

I've found Daisy one of the hardest of my dogs to groom. She also is groomed once a week. Or maybe twice. She matts up constantly and will not lie on the table as my Sams and OES. Peter groomed her last week and I think he took almost 2 hours. I'm hoping her coat will improve once she gets through the junior stage
I can't count the hours I spend on the OES. Spud 3 hours per session. Cedric 2 hours but he is an old boy now. So I'm not adding up When I groom Spud for his Dulux appearances it takes up to 8 hours of grooming and bathing.
My Sams are easy. But they do cast their coats twice a year. Also have to do a complete bath every 6 weeks and drying takes up to 5 hours on the hair dryer.
So I don't really know how many hours per year and I'm not going to count either. What would we do without our dogs................................. |

Ai Ai,that's still my major problem with fivos,he always has matts,he doesn't stay still for long and as much as i try,i always hurt him.How bad is it to leave the matts on?mostly i try to keep his paws and harmpits clean, but on his hint legs for example the matts are so bad that i just can't undo them.Every 2 days i brush him,not for too long, may be half an hour et the time because he gets very restless. Also we don't have a proper place to do it,ussually i make him lay and i sit next to him.
All in all,i spend a lot of time gromming him.I wonder if i wash him more often if it will became easier. |
