Just come back from "The Lord Whiskey Sanctuary day Fete and Dog Companion Show"
Daisy got 2nd in the Non Sporting Class We are so pleased as we had many questions on what her breed was. The judge also was very interested as she owned Cannan Dogs and of course they are quite shy of people and very similar.
But Daisy on the day really enjoyed her day out. She just loves any breed of dogs and all the fuss.
p.s. Dear old Spud won Best Open and then went BEST IN SHOW
After judging I spoke to the judge who was really interested in Daisy.........Also met Anita Dobson (EX East Enders - & Brian May (Queen) Who loved old Spud. Altogether a really good day out and all for Charitity as well. |

Last weekend I was judging at Walmer Castle, Deal - Horse & Dog Show. (Just the Companion Dog Show)! Best In Show - Cairn Terrier - Best Puppy Siberian Husky - Reserve Best In Show - Boxer. Lovely show, lots of fun and lovely people. So no outings for Daisy on the showing front but we did take Daisy with us to socialize. She met horses, dogs, people and children. Although the weather was not good, showers prevailed, she really enjoyed her day out. Lots of fuss from people who thought she was a Portuguese Water Dog
I've been dog sitting a West Highland Terrier for the past 16 days and Daisy had really taken to Scooby. Scooby left on Monday and Daisy has lost a real friend. The Westie could out run and dive and duck to get away from Daisy. Who really tried to round her up - but to no avail Spud enjoyed Scooby, Floosie was glad she's now left Daisy has lost her best friend. I've been told Scooby is also missing all the friends she'd made on her holiday with us.
No shows this weekend just staying at home friends coming from New Zealand on Monday To give the dogs a hug |

The westies are very nice dogs aren't they?it's one of the breeds I've considered(and still do), a major reason their size.I have a friend who has a male, a very social friendly dog.
I wonder how do you keep so many dogs together without problems.... it seems complicated to me, probably lack of experience.
The best for your greek BBQ( let me know how it was)
And why don't you all came for holidays in Serifos?????? a camper and a nice drive throu europe. |

I don't like small dogs. They are so naughty. Get get under your feet and go everywhere where they shouldn't go. Stick to the Serra's - much better dog......... The bigger the dog the better they are..............
Scooby had a lovely temperament. I'm so lucky that Daisy gets on with all dogs. Spud does not usually like small dogs but I suppose as he now is the boss of the pack he knows he is in charge. (He can get very dominant at shows. I have to keep a check on this though). I did sleep the Westie in a large cage overnight, just for peace of mind but Daisy did sleep beside it. It was pure luck that they all got on well together. Peter could not control Scooby and last Saturday came in from the garden saying how well behaved and obedient our dogs are in comparison to a Sccoby (Scooby had been to obedience classes and passed her Good Citizens Exams - my dogs have never been to any classes) Saying that I'm also missing Scooby |

I guess I agree with you about the dogs size I like them big as well, just we have a very small house and things get very crowded with the 3 of us and the 2 dogs(and I would love to get another serra). But I'm trying to find a new house, with a big garden, then things will be easier.(now our garden is not closed, so the dogs can not be outside by themselfs)
It's time to finish work and go for a walk with fivos |

Back from our mini break in Derbyshire, Daisy has now settled to her normal routine.......................but we now have a new puppy Old English Sheepdog aged 10 weeks (Herbert). Daisy has really taken to him and is now getting some of the treatment she gave to Floosie, Witchy and Spud.
It's early days but the pack all seem very happy with the new arrival |

Walking our dogs last night we had a very worrying experience. A pick-up van stopped and the occupants said they wanted to buy Daisy and how much did we want for her They were not interested in our OES or Samoyed and could not take their eyes off of Daisy. I've decided to keep Daisy under strict security arrangements for the time being I know she would not go off with anyone. She is such a good guard dog and is not approachable. There is a Gypsy Convention being held for "Born Again Christians" two fields from us. Last Saturday 200 caravans arrived and there are people everywhere, coming from all over the UK all Gypsies. I believe this meeting goes on for at least two weeks, so very worrying |

That's very worring why do you think they wanted Daisy and not one of the others?it sounds strange.
Congratulations on the new baby,he must be so cute it's funny, but some people here ask me if fivos is an bob tail on a small version ,in general greeks have no idea about breeds. |

Thanks Ani & Catherine.
I've just read in our local newspaper that the Gypsy Convention will move on this weekend. All my close neighbours have padlocks on their gates. We always keep ours locked and have warning signs up. (Our house is on it's own though) but we do have good Gypsy neighbours who usually look after us and do look out for our property when we are out. I could not bear the thought of having my dogs stolen. Poor Ramses my heart goes out to him.
p.s
Ani you will be pleased to learn that Herbert has a Greek Old English Sheepdog Champion Grandfather |

Life is never calm is it A most unpleasant experience for you Gina. There is a dreadful trade in stolen dogs. I think people also run a risk when they leave a dog outside a shop, it's a No No! Good to hear that your new puppy is now at home with you. What fun you will have. |

A few days on the beach I meet a guy who told me that his old E sheepdog was a champion, he asked about fivos , found him very beautiful .Who knows, may be he's the one with the grand father if I see him again I'll ask the dogs name. |

It would be a great coincidence if he did own Herbert's Grandfather.
The breeder is Nicholas Kanales and the dog (Ch) Reata's Cosmopolitan.
I believe he lives on a Greek Island but don't know what one
A great contact for you Ani
- Grooming etc.,
Bobtail people would never be able to cope................... |

Another Companion show for Daisy yesterday. At the Windmill, Ashford - in aid Guide Dogs for the Blind.
My goodness she played up! Unfortunate for Peter as he had to hold her for over half an hour and his arms are now stretched down to his feet
She loves the showing but Peter stood her next to a very small dog. (He now knows not to do this) Daisy thought it was Scoobie the Westie the dog that stayed with us during June. She stood on her hind legs clapping her paws together for most of the duration. People around the ring kept taking photo's as it was so funny. However, she did manage to get another VHC and there were over 20 entries in the class. I think it must be her personality Because had I been judging she would have been thrown out.
Baby Herbert (OES) came too for a walk around and had loads of fuss but Daisy is still a great attraction and lots of people were asking what breed She is very popular.
I'll post photo's later. |
